Sightlines Project, South Bend Museum of Art, Century Center, Indiana
I am a full time painter and printmaker. My work is narrative in nature with close attention to abstract elements such as composition, texture, and form. My interest in multi-cultural traditions, legends and folklore evolved into a personal mythology, constantly developing, and expressed in an array of art images and materials.
I earned an MA in Art and Education from Columbia University Teachers College, New York City, and MFA in Studio Arts from California State University, Los Angeles.
My prints and paintings have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the country, have received many awards and were featured in numerous solo shows. To my life-long history of art shows and exhibitions, I can add the following recent events: my painting Old Moon Lullaby is now a part of The Lerner Theater Collection, curated by the Midwest Museum of Art, Elkhart, Indiana. My work was included in the museum's show titled "Under the Big Tent," May - June, 2016. During that show I offered a presentation about my art at the museum and my limited edition prints became a part of the museum's Permanent Collection. Six of my big paintings are on display in the main lobby of Century Center within the South Bend Art Museum’s "Sightlines" Project, South Bend, Indiana.
I have been published in a great many newspapers and magazines, including In Michiana, The George Washington University Literary Review, Chicago BAC Journal, Indigo 2009 Anthology, and others. My painting Raven appeared on the cover of the 2009 Summer Issue of Ink Filled Page magazine. Recently, an article about my life and art work, skillfully written by the Elkhart community blogger Steve Gruber, appeared in The Elkhart Truth, Indiana.
I was born in Romania and raised in Russia and the Middle East. I immigrated to the United States in 1975, resided in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago. At the present time, I live and work in South Bend, Indiana.
